Commentary
This chapter is a song that Israel sings during the Millennium, after Jesus has delivered her from the Antichrist and restored her as described in chapter 11. It is a celebration of Jesus as Israel's saviour, and a recognition that Jesus is the LORD (Jehovah).

Verse 1 speaks of God's anger being turned away and of him comforting Israel. At the Cross, Jesus took our punishment upon himself that he might turn God's anger away from us and save us. Because Israel rejected Jesus in his first coming, God's anger remained over Israel. He allowed Jerusalem to be destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD, and in the end-times God will allow the Antichrist to invade Israel as a chastisement for her continued rejection of Jesus. But at Armageddon, Jesus steps in to save Israel. The nation accepts him as her saviour and God's anger is turned away forever.

Verses 2 to 4 proclaim Israel's acceptance of God's salvation through Jesus, with expressions of joy and thankfulness. In verses 4 to 5 we see Israel once again fulfilling its commission to make God known among the nations. When God chose Abraham in Genesis 12, his purpose was for Abraham's descendants to be a blessing to the whole world. Israel became God's chosen nation that through Israel he might reveal himself to the world.

Verse 6 calls the people of Zion (Jerusalem) to shout aloud and sing for joy, "for the Holy One of Israel acts mightily among you!" This is a recognition that Jesus is Jehovah living among them.
